Hey, looks great! Wondering why it stops halfway through for a while though.... was that something you did, or maybe the video encoding is kinda wonky? (Or my computer just isn't playing it smoothly?)
Shallow depth of field isn't really used much in stopmotion because it creates staging problems. I find it rather interesting to see the newer cameras can achieve a shallower DOF than ever before, while the film people in Hollywood are running TOWARDS deep focus filmmaking! It's like Citizen Cane in the present day. Speed Racer was shot this way, and has a really neat aesthetic.
That's not to say, "don't employ shallow DOF for the purposes of storytelling". I wouldn't rely too much on it, though. You can focus your audience's attention with lights (which came from theatre/plays).
nice focus pull. I have a Lumix as well, and wonder if you have come up with any solutions regarding the fact that Panasonic doesn't seem to support any way of frame grabbing from the computer, i.e. Dragon Stopmotion..

See you in stopmotionanimation.com, my username: gog
Looking good, you should make a post on commanderbond.net or mi6forums.com as Bond QoS fans will find your project very interesting.
